MAHA TET Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2021 – Download Pdf Now

Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET), is a state-level teacher eligibility test which is conducted and regulated by the Maharashtra State Examination Council, Pune. This examination is conducted adhering to the rules and regulations laid down by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).

It is a paper-pen based (OMR) entrance examination. The official announcement of the MAHA TET Notification 2021 shall invite all interested candidates from the state of Maharashtra who wish to apply for the post of Lower Primary Teachers (classes 1-5) and Upper Primary Teachers (classes 6-8) in the government schools of Maharashtra.

There will be Two Papers for the MAHA TET 2021:

  • Paper-I for Classes I to V
  • Paper-II for Classes VI to VIII

A person who intends to be a Teacher either for Classes I to V or for Classes VI to VIII shall have to appear in both Paper I and Paper II.

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy:
  • Child Development and Pedagogy will consist of concepts on child development, understanding, education psychology, and teaching methodologies. There will be portions on special needs, teaching methods, evaluation, and study processes of students aged 6-11.
  • Concept of development and its relationship with learning.
  • Principles of the development of children.
  • Influence of Heredity & Environment.
  • Socialization processes: Social world & children (Teacher, Parents, Peers).
  • Piaget, Kohlberg, and Vygotsky: constructs and critical perspectives.
  • Concepts of child-centred and progressive education.
  • Critical perspective of the construct of Intelligence.
  • Multi-Dimensional Intelligence Language & Thought.
  • Gender as a social construct; gender roles, gender-bias and educational practice.
  • Individual differences among learners, understanding differences based on diversity of language, caste, gender, community, religion, etc.
  • The distinction between Assessment for learning and assessment of learning; School-Based Assessment, Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation: perspective and practice.
  • Formulating appropriate questions for assessing readiness levels of learners; for enhancing learning and critical thinking in the classroom and for assessing learner achievement.
  • Addressing learners from diverse backgrounds including disadvantaged and deprived
  • Addressing the needs of children with learning difficulties, ‘impairment’ etc.

  1. Language-I:
  • For this section, candidates have to choose a language amongst Hindi, Marathi, English, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada. This section’s syllabus includes inference, pedagogy of language development, verbal ability, grammar, comprehension, and reading unseen passages.
  • Learning and acquisition.
  • Principles of Language Teaching.
  • Role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool.
  • A critical perspective on the role of grammar in learning a language for communicating ideas verbally and in written form.
  • Challenges of teaching language in a diverse classroom; language difficulties, errors and disorders
  • Language Skills.
  • Evaluating language comprehension and proficiency: speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Teaching-learning materials: Textbook, multimedia materials, multilingual resource of the classroom.
  • Remedial Teaching.
  • Reading unseen passages – two passages one prose or drama and one poem with questions on comprehension, inference, grammar and verbal ability (Prose passage may be literary, scientific, narrative or discursive.
  1. Language II: 
  • For this section, candidates have to choose a language amongst English or Marathi. This section’s syllabus includes inference, pedagogy of language development, verbal ability, grammar, comprehension, and reading unseen passages.
  • Two unseen prose passages (discursive or literary or narrative or scientific) with a question on comprehension, grammar, and verbal ability.
  • Learning and acquisition.
  • Principles of Language Teaching.
  • Role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool
  • A critical perspective on the role of grammar in learning a language for communicating ideas verbally and in written form;
