The Railway Protection Force Sub-Inspector (RPF SI) Exam is conducted by the Ministry of Railways to select eligible male and female candidates as sub-inspectors of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) in the various zones of the Indian Railways.

The examination will be three phases.
- Phase I – Computer Based Test (CBT):
Candidates will be required to answer all questions and shall be awarded 01 (one) mark for each correct answer. Negative marks shall be awarded for every wrong answer. 1/3 marks shall be deducted for every wrong answer. No mark shall be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted
Written Exam of Objective type MCQs, divided into 3 parts containing questions of 1 mark each on:
- General Awareness (50 marks)
- Arithmetic (35 marks)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 marks)
- Phase II – Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Phase III: Document Verification (DV)
RPF Exam Pattern- PHASE I (CBT)
- The Exam Will be Computer Based Test (CBT).
- The written test will be multiple choice objective type (MCQ).
- There will be 120 Questions/ Marks.
- The time duration will be 01:30 hours(90 minutes).
- There will also be a negative marking of 1/3 Marks. 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
CBT shall be held at different centres across the country simultaneously for all the Groups. The standard of the examination will be 10th/Matric level.

RPF SI Syllabus 2021 – Phase II (PET, PMT)
- Phase II includes
- Physical Efficiency Test
- Physical Measurement Test
- Based on the merit in Phase I, candidates will be called for Phase II.
- Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature.
- No marks are to be awarded.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
The physical measurement test in terms of height and chest measurement is given below:

Candidates clearing the above 3 rounds are called for document verification. The document verification is followed by a Medical Fitness Test which is mandatory for the final appointment.
RPF SI Syllabus 2021 – Phase III
DOCUMENT VERIFICATION
- Based on your performance in CBT and subject to your qualifying in PET & PMT, you will be called for Document Verification (DV).
- In cases of two or more candidates securing same marks, their merit position shall be determined by the age criteria i.e., older person shall be given higher seniority.
- The aspirants must produce all original documents in support of their educational qualification, age, SC/ST/OBC status, where applicable domicile and any other extracurricular activities including NCC at the time of Viva-Voce and documents verification.
- Your appointment is subject to your passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by Railway Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration and successful completion of initial training.
